Jefferson School was built in 1931. The school was named after the third President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson. Mr. Harwood, President of the School Board at the time, believed that having Jefferson and Adams schools serving together would symbolize the friendship of these two great leaders.

Today Jefferson is a traditional school for students in grades 5-8. It is designed to provide students the opportunity for academic, social and emotional growth in a highly structured, back-to-basics environment. The school places a strong emphasis on student-centered classrooms with a focus on differentiated instruction, increased parental involvement, and high academic and behavioral expectations.

If you are a resident of the Jefferson district boundary, your child(ren) may attend without formally applying, if space is available. If Jefferson is not your home district, you must submit an application. Transportation is provided to all students who live outside of the walk area for Jefferson.

In 2017 Jefferson was awarded the Family Friendly School Award from the State of Indiana! We are asking parents/guardians to complete the following survey. Please click HERE to complete the survey.
